Project Management
The Business Voice WM is concentrating on two major projects which could significantly impact upon the competitiveness of businesses in the West Midlands region.
Nuclear Power and Business Opportunities
Construction work for the UK's first new nuclear power station is expected to begin in 2012. With the decommissioning of old nuclear power stations, the building of new nuclear power stations and the maintaining of nuclear plants, the commercial opportunities for Midlands firms is immense.
Midlands businesses do not necessarily need a track record in the nuclear industry - but some training and understanding of the opprtunities is required. Whether you are an engineering firm, a construction business or you are in professional services, there will be opportunities for you from the nuclear power industry.
Events are being held across the Midlands so that businesses can see how they can get a share of the action - and boost their bottom line.
Islamic Finance
Islamic finance is the only sector of the financial services industry that is still growing during this recession. It is based on profit sharing and banks from HSBC to RBS are now involved in this growing market. All businesses - whether or not they are Muslim - can get involved.
Birmingham and the West Midlands is widely seen as a European centre of excellence in Islamic finance and - so - there is a real opportunity to develop high quality jobs from this sector. Working with the Islamic Bank of Britain plc, Birmingham City Council and the West Midlands Minority Ethnic Business Forum we are holding workshops and marketing work so inward investment and new business opportunities can be created here in the Midlands.
